What do Clients Say?

"Karen and Don proved to be a tremendous resource. Our search took nearly a year. Every time we visited Asheville to see our daughter, they were incredibly gracious and available to help us look and research. They gave up many hours on weekends to do this. Karen aided us in our decision making, guiding us - and sometimes we reversed course, avoiding a bad decision. Because of their guidance, we ended with a wonderful retirement home with a million$ view. We have promised they will be our first dinner guests. We now feel we have some true friends in the region."

"If you return to an agent for a second time when purchasing a home, it is a clear indicator of how much you value their knowledge and service. I just purchased my second home with the help of this team. They are simply “the best”. Thank you Don and Karen."

"We had an amazing experience with Karen. She was there every step of the way for us. The best Listener I have ever worked with. She got our home sold and closed and never over promised anything along the way. We had an amazing property for her to work with but there are a lot of amazing properties in the Western NC market. It took an amazing Realtor to get it not only sold but closed. Karen and Don did both. My wife Tracy and I will always be grateful for being put in touch with Karen and Don. I worked in the mortgage banking business for 30 years and know first hand all of the things it takes to have a successful loan closing. I have met many realtors over the years in this profession but never have I met anyone who has the expertise Karen Woodard has. Her hard work and knowledge of our situation has allowed my family to move on with our lives. It is my utmost privilege to recommend Karen and Don Woodard to anyone who is buying or selling a home. You will have friends for life!!"

"It was a pleasure to work with Karen and Don Woodard. They are very professional and incredibly knowledgeable about all the markets in and around Asheville. Working with Karen and Don was a terrific experience. We have moved about 10 times in the last 35 years and this was the best experience yet. I would give Karen and Don Woodard my highest recommendation."

"Karen and Don lived up to every expectation we have ever wanted in a real estate agent. The first time we met Karen, at a neighbors open house, we knew she was the agent for our sale. And we were right. Karen and Don did everything within their capacity to sell our home and worked with us through every step. We would most certainly recommend them to anyone looking to sell their home or purchase a new property!"

About Karen

The Asheville area is now my home, and I couldn't be happier, but it took a few stops to finally get here. I was born in Canton, Ohio and attended high school in Culver, Indiana. From there I turned south, attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating, I headed north to New York City, climbing the corporate ladders at a number of money center banks, and eventually running a private banking group at J. P. Morgan Chase. Love, marriage and a fortuitous transfer took me west to Los Angeles, in the Malibu area, to my high school classmate, Don.

While there was much to love about Southern California, Don and I eventually decided it was time to move with our third grader a little closer to our family and our roots. We became great students of those "Places Rated" towns, and we are thrilled with where we settled down. Mountains, hiking trails, great weather, fabulous restaurants, golf around every corner, skiing a short drive away and great friends who share a common belief: That living the Good Life – whatever that means to you – begins by choosing where you want to live, not where you have to.

After moving here, I took the opportunity to become a licensed mortgage consultant, working successfully with a wide variety of clients. This experience has been invaluable, allowing me to provide necessary insight and advice to both my buyers and sellers. Eventually, I moved on to what has always fascinated me — buying and selling residential real estate at what, I believe, is the best real estate company in Western North Carolina, Beverly-Hanks. I live and breathe the business. If I'm not with one of my clients, learning what I can about the local market, or previewing houses, I'm brainstorming how best to market one of our listings, drafting copy for advertising and videos or holding an open house. The marketing, negotiating and customer relationship skills and knowledge gleaned from twenty years serving corporate and private banking clients, combined with my lending experience, propelled me into the ranks of Asheville’s Top 100 Realtors within three years with the added benefit of forging strong friendships with my clients.

Don is originally from Ft Worth, TX and like me went to high school in Culver, IN. He headed south to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for college and then, following his passion for writing and acting, ventured west to the City of Angels. He spent twenty-plus years in the Entertainment Industry. As a television writer and producer, he wrote for established programs, created pilots, and oversaw production staffs that brought his words to life. Watch for those credits on reruns of “Just Shoot Me,” “Rodney,” HBO’s “Dream On,” and “The Naked Gun” to name just a few. It was a fun and fascinating mix of right-and-left-brained skill sets. When he arrived in Asheville, like many before and after him, he learned Western North Carolina was home to a generation of people who "weren't done yet." For two years he used his management, writing and people skills toward nonprofit development, raising funds and awareness for Pisgah Legal Services, an organization providing free civil legal aid to low-income local residents. While still a volunteer for PLS, Don enjoyed making the move to join Karen, full time, putting his descriptive writing skills to work, creating a truly effective Real Estate team.

Our keys to success are a strong work ethic, a systematic process, informative communication, attention to detail, and the belief that integrity and honesty must be the foundation of all relationships.

Moving here was the right choice for us and could be for you. There are so many neighborhoods -- from Avery Park to Sondley, from Ashbrook to the Cliffs at Walnut Cove -- from Southcliff to Hawks Landing -- each with its own story to tell. We love introducing new folks to this unique and amazing quality of life. Western North Carolina is the place we were meant to be. We hope you'll feel the same and discover with us, if you haven't already, everything this beautiful vibrant area has to offer.
