When It came time for my husband and I to list our home for sale, we researched all possible options available to us and even inquired with a few consumer advocacy groups to find the best fit for us. I thoroughly recommend Thomas Kersey, who did a great job selling my parent’s house. I was tasked with selling the house for my parents, who had recently moved out of state. I was also located out of state and therefore very reliant on Thomas to handle all aspects of the sale. From beginning to end, I felt that we were in good hands given Thomas’ expertise and experience. Thomas’ engagement went beyond traditional real estate agent expectations – during the sales process he was in frequent contact and kept me fully up to speed on showings and any adjustments needed. But where he really assisted and guided us was once we got to the offer stage – we received two offers almost simultaneously and he was able to negotiate as well as advise which was better, especially as both offers had contingencies. He examined the home market of the potential buyers and was able to clearly identify which offer was “less risky” - and then he negotiated a higher price from those buyers! Once under contract, the house needed some repairs, and being out of state, I worried about managing that. Not to worry – Thomas got bids and arranged all the work. I only had to approve the estimate and never even had to speak with a contractor. That made it easy on me! Bottom line, Thomas delivered, and made a potentially difficult process as easy and smooth as possible. I had tremendous peace of mind throughout knowing he was “in our corner”.

When my husband died last month, we had been contracted to buy a new home in South Carolina that was supposed to close at the end of April. Since my circumstances had radically changed, I was hoping to cancel the contract, but the builder would not agree. I was told by my lawyer in New York that I had no other choice but to forfeit my large deposit or buy the house and resell it. Since this was badly needed money, I tearfully contacted Thomas Kersey to help me through the buying and selling process. He listened to me, a complete stranger in mourning, as I sobbed my way through the story. He then read through my contract and told me he would make some phone calls and see what he could do. Two days later I received a call from the builder saying that they would refund my deposit. Thomas went out of his way to help me through an extremely tough time and voluntarily forfeited the commission that he would have gotten if I had had to buy and sell the house.
